Pure pulp. Today, tomorrow, and into the future

Our self-sufficiency
As Europe´s largest private forest owner, our high level of self-suffiency secures a stable supply of raw materials to our modern facilities, powered by our own bioenergy.
Pure Nordic strength
In our cold climate, slow-groing rees develop strong Nordic fibres– and that’s a good thing. This steady growth produces strong, slender fibers with excellent properties.

Our news

Östrand – the energy mill with power
Did you know that Östrand’s pulp mill in Timrå produces around 220 GWh more electricity annually than Bergeforsen hydropower plant*? That is not what one would usually expect from a pulp mill. But at Östrand, forest raw material becomes not only pulp, but also large amounts of renewable energy. This makes the facility an important part of both industry and society’s energy supply.

Pure pulp for a pure world
As Europe’s largest private forest owner, SCA is one of the biggest and most influential companies in the forest industry. This sector forms a crucial part of the backbone of Sweden’s economy and climate policy. Contributing an impressive 93 million tons of CO₂e in climate benefits each year.

More CTMP at Ortviken
“The biggest challenge, apart from the fact that we had a global pandemic to deal with during the project, affecting not only us but also our contractors and naturally logistics, was to tear down large parts of the closed paper mill at Ortviken and build a new CTMP facility at the same time”, says Anders Granström, Mill Manager at the new facility. However, “everything is proceeding according to plan, and we are now working on qualifying existing products at Ortviken, meaning that Östrand will shut down late spring”.
